Bad dog behaviour seems to be worse with dogs in the house, simply because this is not a natural environment. Outside, they generally don't have to worry about shoes and vases, and fragile glassware or electrical items that can be ruined by their natural playfulness.
"The vast majority of behavior problems that you have with dogs are normal behavior patterns, but inappropriate for the setting in which they're occurring," says Daniel Q. Estep, Ph.D., a certified applied animal behaviorist in private practice in Littleton, Colorado.
Its normal for dogs to chew things. In their natural environment, this is not bad dog behaviour. But dogs are fast learners, for the most part. Here are some dog training tips to help you reduce the bad behaviour in your dog, and make the house a better place for the both of you:

I went outside for litterally 2 minutes to put the trash to the road, adn my dog had pulled a cushion off the couch and chewed it to pieces!! Grr.. She has a million toys in a basket right next to the couch that she has destroyed! She knows she did a bad thing, as soon as I walk back in the house, she hides under the table with her tail tucked.. Am I supposed to follow me everyplace that I go, no matter what.. there's got to be something to do

If your dog is a puppy it will chew! The biggest mistake owners make is not makking their home puppy proof. Consider getting baby gates and gating your dog in the kitchen when you are home with thier toys. Make sure cords are up. Put plastic guards in outlets and spray bitters on anything in kitchen that is chewable: example is chair cushions corners of molding & Cabinets. We even kepy our feet up during our dogs chewing phase. When you leave the house (even for a minute crate them). We thought it would never end but it did! : ) Have hope!

My dogs are outside during the day with a kennel, toys food and water.... every now and again they chew the fence screen.... totally intermittently.... please could you find me an answer otherwise I don't know what I'll do if they continue to do this as I'm at the end of my teather! I often hose the dogs when they have chewed but I never see them doing it... they know it's wrong so do it behind my back which in my eyes is very dissrespectful to the pack leader... why would they do this and how can I stop them?
